- (VERY IMPORTANT): You should have received an email to all families who already enrolled in the 2018- 2019 school year to sign the tuition agreement in TADS. Please complete this by Thursday, June 14. This will allow you to set up your tuition payment information. If you have not received this email, please contact accountant@stjosrcs.org for assistance.
- When setting up your agreement, you may notice that tuition and the required fees (Enrollment/ Registration fee- $250 per student, Capital Improvement Fee- $100 per student, Yearbook Fee- $25 per family, Home and School fee- $ 25 per family) are lumped together. This is, unfortunately, a limitation of TADS. Please bear with us as we adjust to this new system.
- This does NOT mean, however, that you will be required to pay all those charges at once.
- You can choose to do so, but you can also make 11 payments.
- The 11 payments will be the required fees on June 30 or July 1, and monthly tuition payments over 10 months starting on July 30. If you are interested in making the 11 payments, please email accountant@stjosrcs.org so that he will set up your account accordingly. In your email, you can state that you would like to pay the required fees on June 30 or July 1 and then make tuition payments over a 10 month period starting on July 30.
- If you are a practicing Catholic, we have temporarily applied the Catholic rate for the upcoming school year. However, the rate will be changed in July if the Parish verification form and Parish Covenant are not submitted. Therefore, please submit these forms as soon as possible. Please see attached for a copy of those forms. parish_verification_2018-19 (3).docx parish_covenant_2018-2019.docx
- Please note, if you need to make any changes to the date of payment, due to the restrictions in TADS, we can only move payments to the 5th, 10th, 15th, and 20th of the month. Therefore, please contact the principal and the accountant at least 5 business days before the requested change.
- For Catholic families, we have temporarily applied the Catholic rate. If you have not already done so, please make sure you submit the Parish verification and Parish Covenant forms this week to qualify for the practicing Catholic rate. The forms are attached for your convenience.
- Due to scheduling conflicts and renovations over the summer, there will be no Vacation Bible School this year.
- Interested in obtaining parent volunteer hours for the 2018 – 2019 school year over the summer? Parents do not have to be ADW Child Compliant in order to volunteer. This opportunity is open to only adults, therefore, unfortunately, children cannot be present during the specified volunteer times. - The Archdiocese of Washington would love your feedback by Friday, February 16 using the following link: https://goo.gl/QDTD5n Additional details on their feedback is included below.
- The Catholic Schools Office of the Archdiocese of Washington is in the early stages of a five year strategic plan. The plan has a number of different focus areas, two of which are enrollment and academic excellence. Within those broader areas are the goals both to increase the enrollment of students with special learning needs in ADW schools and to grow the instructional capacity of the schools to successfully educate these students and their classmates. The CSO is currently gathering information from schools which will help in identifying strategies and supports that can be implemented and supports that can be put in place over the next few years that will help in meeting this goal. As a part of this information gathering process, members of each school community are being asked to complete a survey focusing on the education of students with special needs in Catholic Schools. The results of these surveys will be used in conjunction with other information to help make plans that will truly support the enrollment and academic excellence goals in all schools across the Archdiocese.
- The CSO asks that you seriously consider completing the attached survey. All answers will come directly to Maggie Hubbard, the Director for Special Education for the ADW schools. No one outside of the CSO will have access to this information nor will it be used for any reason other than to inform the decisions made in supporting ADW school communities and, most importantly, the students attending ADW schools. If you choose to complete the survey, please do so by Friday, Feb. 16.
- Thank you in advance for your time in providing this important information. It will help in supporting the continued growth of ADW schools. If you have any questions about this survey specifically, please contact Maggie Hubbard, hubbardm@adw.org, 301-853-4569. If you are interested in finding out more about the CSO Strategic Plan, please contact your principal or the CSO, schools@adw.org.

Thank you, parents for your exemplary support of your child’s education and our passionate and dedicated teachers who have continued to prepare our child academically for a prosperous future!
- The wait is over! The Lord has blessed us with a wonderful new addition to our faculty, our new Spanish teacher, Ms. Cristina Fernandez, who will be starting officially on Tuesday. A native of Spain, Ms. Fernandez is fluent in 2 other languages- English and German. She possesses a Master's degree in Linguistics and has over 6 years of teaching experience. Please feel free to welcome Ms. Fernandez to our family.

- In your child’s folder, you will be receiving a copy of their most recent Scantron results for students enrolled in 1st grade through 8th.
- On that sheet, you will notice that 3 parts are highlighted.
- Pink represents the SIP score or the degree of student mastery/proficiency with the concepts. For example, a sip of 82 means that your child scored the equivalent of 82% on grade level material.
- The second highlighted information in orange represents the percentile of your student nationally. Percentile scores for individual test takers represent how an individual test taker's score compares to the scores of other test takers within a particular comparison group. For example, if your score report says that your child scored in the 64th percentile, this means that your child tested better than 64% of the test takers nationally.
- The third highlighted information in green represents the Lexile level of your child in reading. The Lexile Measure identifies numerically your child’s reading ability.
- On that sheet, you will notice that 3 parts are highlighted.
- Last, the report provides a helpful Top 3 Suggested learning objectives that your child needs some additional support at home with. These objectives will be targeted with our teachers as well, therefore our combined efforts will improve your child’s performance.

Good morning, parents and guardians,
Attached are electronic copies of files that were distributed through the Monday communication folders yesterday.
This is a friendly reminder that during arrival and dismissal, our procedures have been established to ensure the safety of all of our children while respecting the time of parents. Therefore, please do not park in the parking lot of the church and cross as this slows down the arrival process. During arrival, please proceed in your cars to the normal drop off zone and pull up to the very top of the zone in one line. Please encourage your children to promptly exit their vehicle on the right. Safety patrols and 2 adults will be present to assist during this time. Please do not drive on the left of the drop off zone or overtake cars in the line as students may accidentally exit on the left.
During dismissal, please also proceed in your cars in single file to the school parking lot. Please do not park in the parking lot of the church and cross as your child may run into traffic. Once you have followed the directions of where to park, please remain in your cars until the whistle is blown. Once the whistle is blown, you may exit your car and pickup your child(ren). Please refrain from having any extended conversations with teachers at this time as it compromises the safety of our children when teachers are distracted. Once you have promptly picked up your child(ren) and closed your doors, the whistle will be sounded twice to indicate that cars are able to leave. All doors must be closed for this to occur, so your promptness is appreciated.
Thank you for your attention and diligence in ensuring that all of our children are safe.
