Pre-Kindergarten

Our Pre-Kindergarten 4 program is designed to allow our children to experience the wonderful love of God while participating in research-based practices that develops the entire child.
The PreK4 program is a five-day program from 8:25 - 3:20 pm using the standards provided by the Archdiocese of Washington.

Parents can opt to participate their child in the Extended Care Program (ECP) that begins at 6:45 am and ends at 6:00 pm.
For more information, please click here.

The program's teacher to student ratio is 1:10. A Master Teacher is present as well as a staff assistant.

For families interested in Pre-Kindergarten, prospective students must be 4 by September 1 to be eligible to enroll.
2020 - 2021 Tuition for the year: Only $ 6,800!

Space is limited to 20 students. To avoid the wait list this year, please apply early by clicking here

  • Develop language skills by developing a joy of reading, initiating or elaborating on conversation, recognizing letters by name and sound, understanding the structure of conversation, answering open-ended questions, communicating with complete sentences, recognizing that print has meaning, expressing complex ideas and questions, and using sound to create new words.
  • Develop a sense of self-care/responsibility by introducing the concept of options, keeping track of personal belongings, participating in clean-up and group activities, moving through routines with few reminders, and demonstrating an understanding of classroom rules without guidance.
  • Develop social behaviors by working cooperatively in groups with peers, maintaining a friendship, recognizing feelings and needs in others, engaging in negotiation to reach a solution, suggesting a solution to a problem, defending a peer’s rights, seeking adult assistance when necessary, and accepting compromise" (Towson, 2018)

What Our Parents Are Saying

I LOVE this school! I have a 5th grader and a 6th grader who both started at St. Joseph's in Kindergarten. The staff is amazing - they all treat the students like their extended family. The middle school team is just that... a TEAM who works together to ensure the students are well prepared for High School. They are aware of tests, quizzes and papers that other teachers have assigned and they take care to make sure the students are working to their full potential but are not overloaded. I love many of the community building events St. Joseph's has every year - a crab feast in the fall, a 5K and one mile fun run, monthly basket bingo nights, pasta dinners and a Multicultural Pot Luck Night in the spring! I can't say enough positive about the school. If you are looking for a quality education for your child in a small, personal class setting, you should set up an appointment to visit the school...you won't be disappointed!
